5 reasons to book an eye test today

So you think you don’t need an eye exam. Think again.... your sight is complex and unique. Having regular eye exams may be more important than you think!

1.Your eyes and sight are continually changing.

Even if you were told you had perfect vision at your last eye test, it is still very important to have regular eye examinations to ensure that nothing has changed. Age, wear and tear, medical conditions and lifestyle due to increased mobile and computer usage, can cause damage to your eyes.

2.Good eyesight is vital to learning.

Many children won’t know they have vision problems which may affect their learning and they can be inaccurately diagnosed with learning disabilities like dyslexia, attention deficit disorders or poor learners. Also, certain eye conditions like amblyopia and strabismus can only be corrected up to a certain age.

As undetected eye problems can affect a child for life, all children qualify for free NHS eye tests and free glasses if needed.

3.Your eye test can pick up undetected health problems.

A routine eye exam can pick up eye conditions that may be completely asymptomatic, but are potentially blinding if left untreated like retinal detachment, wet AMD and Glaucoma. The earlier a problem is detected the greater the chance of successful treatment.

Eye exams can also pick up serious undetected general health problems like diabetes, raised cholesterol, high blood pressure, brain tumors, neurological diseases, thyroid hormonal imbalances to name a just few.

So not only can regular eye tests save your sight but it may also save your life.

4. Good eyesight is Safe

We need good eyesight for our daily tasks and work. However it's so easy to take our sight for granted when we drive, walk down stairs or play sport. Failing sight may be responsible for falls, an increase in car accidents, mistakes at work and clumsiness.

All employees who spend more than 4 hours a day using a VDU, may be entitled to have free eye exams from their employers.

You may also be breaking the law if your vision is not legal to drive. Read the vision requirements for driving here.

Good eyesight is key to keeping us safe and the people around us safe.

5. Booking an eye test is easy.

We offer same day emergency appointments and same week routine eye examinations 6 day a week. Furthermore you may be entitled to a free NHS eye test.

Your eyes are unique, and as such our eye tests are personalized to you and take as long as you need.
